  • D - Teluk Duyung (Monkey Beach)
  • E - Muka Head Lighthouse
  • F - Pantai Kerachut

This Penang National Park Map shows all the hiking / trekking trails that you can take in the park. This is the official map that is posted outside the registration office to the park where you have to go to sign in and get your permit before you enter
When you register at the office you have to tell them where you are planning to trek to and if you will be camping or not and you will receive a copy of a map of the trekking trails in the Penang National Park
Below is a picture of the facilities, such as toilets at each location and the recreational activities that take place there, where you can camp, go fishing, swimming etc
You will have to take all your own supplies into the park with you. If hiking take as much water as possible as it is thirsty work climbing up and down hills in the rainforest. Also you will need to take all your own food, as none is available inside the park.

Pantai Kerachut
(Kerachut Beach)

white sandy beach located in Penang National Park on Penang Island and

is home to the Penang Turtle Sanctuary just behind the beach.

a very rare meromictic lake here (a lake of two layers of salt and fresh water that don't mix)

you may be tempted to take a swim Before you do, take a walk out to the jetty
Unfortunately this beach has a bit of a problem with Jellyfish - Big Jellyfish!

How to get there

Trekking to Kerachut Beach

There are two paths through the rainforest to the beach. The first and easiest way is to walk for 1/2 km along the coast from the park entrance and take the first left up over the hill and down again the other side - This pathway is quite wide, easy to follow and not to steep.

The other and slightly longer way is to head to the Canopy Walkway and continue up the hill from there where it meets the first path near the top of the hill. This path is a lot narrower, steeper, less used and with much more forest debris littered over it making it harder to walk along
On the way down from the top of the hill there is also another split in the path. If you keep going straight this will take you to a bridge over the meromictic lake at the end of the beach, turning left will take you around the lake to the camp site
